My travels through the kingdom have brought me to many of the master thieves. Here is what I have found out about the different poisons by talking to master thieves, talking to other players, and by drinking the concoctions they talk about.
"Spell: 'DarkBlood' modifies damage roll by -5 for 103 hours."
master thief loki
Mydgaard - in NW guard tower
The audacity of the Master Thief of Mydgaard! He's taken over the unused, southern watch tower under the very noses of the city watchmen. The room is a disarray of locks and lockpicks. Poisonous herbs hang from the rafters in thick bunches. Master Thief Loki reclines on a fur covered bench along one wall, carefully recording the components for his newest poison. A lantern provides light to the windowless room.
(Yellow Aura) The Master Thief looks on approvingly as you find your way into his hideaway.
the Master Thief says 'To prepare poisons, you'll need a mortar. Place the components in the mortar and hold it. Then either prepare or poisonous to create the poison. To make DarkBlood, for example, place a large toadstool in the mortar. You can find them near the gnomes, and a few other places as well. I have a friend in Milarbor who can tell you more.'
100 hp poison
Milarbor - in cave north of town.
The Master Thief motions you forward as you enter the room.
As you move closer, the old thief whispers, 'Listen and remember my child....'
(Yellow Aura) A green-eyed pixie winks at you.
the Master Thief says 'How good to see you! Your journey for poisonous toxins has only begun. My knowledge of FoulOak can hopefully further your studies. A rotten acorn will do the trick, and your foes stomachs will never be the same! Further studies await you in that halfling metropolis...'
shire - past chicken coop
There is a small refrigerator in the corner. It is the only thing in the room other than the Master Thief, because the room is too small for much furniture.
(Yellow Aura) The Master Thief is hiding in the room.
the Master Thief says 'Hey mister! I just know that you wanna play a little game... Bring me back a peppermint root and I'll show ya how to make a little something called Blackroot. Wait, oh hell I've gone and ruined the game now... promise you won't tell anyone about it. With that on your blade you should be a little better at getting through your enemies defenses. I've got a friend who hangs out in Kraig's Keep who could tell ya more!'.
200 hp heal
kraig's keep - down on main road just west of fountain.
Surprised to find a loose paving stone, you are even more surprised to find a room underneath it, carved out of the rock underlying the street above. Who could want such a secret, hidden room?
(Yellow Aura) A Master Thief is here, disappointed that you weren't carrying something interesting
the Master Thief says 'Who are you? Oh right, another poison seeker.. I've seen so many of you guys lately, I have a hard time remembering. I know of a popular little healing brew called Whiteroot that might be able to help you out in hard times. Just put a dab of horseradish in that mortar and you'll soon be feeling a whole lot better. Check out an aquaintance of mine who's holed up near a river and he'll keep ya going.'.
Minoc woods
A master thief says 'As a fellow practicioner of the poisonous ways, I can offer you a valuable addition to your collection. Snakeroot will distract your opponent as they feel the sensation of snakes biting their legs. I'm sure you could find that useful, eh? Just take a piece of yew bark and combine it with a foxglove root and thats all that you'll need. Thats all I can say, so go to Enclave for another tip.'
Mob goes to sleep
The master thief says 'Egads! I go to all the trouble of secluding myself from all those buffoons and then they just come looking for me. Ah well what is it I can do for you? All I know of importance is that Somnus is quite useful in convincing others they're up past their bedtime. Apply a little catnip and soon they'll be having sweet dreams. Go bother my buddy in Underdark and see if you can get anything useful from him, eh?'.
Enclave past elstar and cage
A tiny room was just sitting behind those cages! Who in their right mind would live here on purpose? You think you might have to leave soon as your stomach begins to turn.
(Yellow Aura) A disgustingly dirty little kobold has holed himself up back here
A master thief says 'You dare bother the great Snaffoo? I must applaud such foolishness. Only I know the great secret to Trollbane! It will bring anyone to their knees because they can't regenerate with it in effect. Place a hyacinth bulb and rosemary leaf together and the effects are amazing! Talk with my close friend in Parliament for further details.'.
Stratz - Sacred Library - Door up in random maze.
This entire room is lined with mirrors from top to bottom. You look around and see yourself looking at yourself looking at yourself! Mixed inbetween these images of you are views of a quite gorgeous woman who is busy putting on some makeup. Do you dare to interrupt her?
(Yellow Aura) A strikingly beautiful woman poses for the mirror.
Give me a cool description.......... A master thief is in perfect health. You peek at the inventory: Nothing.
A master thief says 'Well hello there! What was so important that you had to interrupt me? Poisons? Well ok if you promise to leave me alone after this.
Monkshood is a useful brew for getting a leg up on your enemies. After feeling its effects, a foe will be weakened for quite some time. Just put an aconite seed and a mistletoe leaf together and voila! Talk to that pixie in Ultima for more answers...'
Character removes all equipment.
thief6 - underdark
The master thief is here waiting for his next victim
The master thief says 'I see that you are quite determined to make great strides in your profession. Very well then I will let you in on the coolest poison ever created. Its called Poison Ivy, and like it implies, it will give your opponent an awful itch. Simply use a small dusk of poison ivy and your enemies will soon be wishing they were never born! I've got a pal in White Lotus that can tell you another cool one.'.
Freeport
Master hideout [Exits: east] A totally barren room is here gathering dust. How quaint! (Yellow Aura) An upset-looking half-elf is stomping around the room.
Give me a cool description.......... A master thief is in perfect health.
A master thief says 'That little brat sent you all the way out here? Ok since you made all this effort I suppose I can tell you about Pacific. Its been known to calm the savage beast, even ones that would otherwise attack on sight. Its only useful to those who are clever enough to sneak up on such creatures anyway. Just put a stick of oleander with a belladonna berry and vwallaa! Seek more answers in the Monastery.'
White lotus temple, upstairs
A dimly lit room, you have wandered upon a shrivelled looking old man sitting peacefully in the corner. He calmly looks you up and down, and since he doesn't see you as possibly being able to hurt him, he ignores you.
(Yellow Aura) An old man in leather skins sits here ignoring you.
The master thief says 'As I have aged, I have learned many things, none of which are of more help than the Marin Touch. A simple application of saffron leaves, and you will soon be feeling the restorative effects. Take a nap soon after to feel the full impact! Hunt down my old partner in Stratz for more info.'
Dispel magic if successful
Spell: 'Twilight' modifies hit roll by -5 for 10 hours. Spell: 'Twilight' modifies damage roll by -5 for 10 hours.
Master hideout [Exits: east] Stashed away behind all the hustle and bustle of everyday legislative life, this closet is filled to the brim with legal papers and documents. You about fall asleep just looking at it! (Yellow Aura) A rather thin-looking ettin stares at you with beady eyes.
A master thief says 'So what brings you to bother an old ettin? All I know about is Twilight, and thats fairly decent. It has been known to render an enemy unholy in the eyes of their god as well as generally decrease their combat skills. Just put a clump of hemlock, azalea stem, and some ragweed together and you'll never lose! Continue your trek for enlightenment in King Arthur's court.'
"Mob seems lost"
Mob does less damage?
You feel lost
Spell: 'Delirius' modifies none by 0 for 1 hours.
west of nobles quarters in south part of town.
Master hideout [Exits: east] This room looks like it was plucked from another dimension! All kinds of herbs and spices are just scattered around haphazardly. There are machines in the corner flashing and making a lot of bleeping sounds. What have you stumbled upon ?(Yellow Aura) A young serf stares at you with green eyes.
A ragged-looking serf with bright green eyes grins widely as he shows you the poisons he plans to use on his Lord. He has endured years of slavery and torture, all the while experimenting with a small patch of herbs he secretly cultivated. He only shares his knowledge with you in hopes that you will pass it along to other enslaved people so that they may free themselves of their masters.
A master thief is in perfect health.
A master thief says 'Hey mister! I know of a little concoction that will drive away your enemies! Its called Delirius, and it'll shut down your foes defenses for a bit. Put some Jimson weed and a leaf of rhubarb together and you're in business! Go talk to my older brother in Freeport, he'll clue ya in on more!'
Mega maze, just east of minotaur village (x12, y7 from upper left)
A recently sunken hole in the ground. Thats about the only way to describe this room. There is just a pile of rocks strewn about the place... generally its a huge mess!
(Yellow Aura) A drow elf cackles as he scares you half to death.
master thief says 'You have come to the right place. I am the sacred keeper of the most special of poisons, Spurge. A single drop of this substance will cause one to forget any skills they ever learned! No more stunning, casting, anything! A simple combination of cassava root and castor oil and you're home free. Do NOT let me hear about you scattering this knowledge. I would be forced to spurge you if you catch my drift. Journey onwards to the Abyss now.. I am through.'.
No affect on PC's.
Lowers level on NPC's (6 at level 100)
Monistary, east from chorus balcony.
A pungent aroma engulfs this room, due mainly in part to all the perfumes and dyes and stuff that you see scattered about. A desk is situated in the corner, and its drawers are sprawled about the room. Someone came through here recently and it wasn't good housecleaning!
(Yellow Aura) A halfling runs about the room searching frantically.
A master thief says 'Friend! You wouldn't happen to know where my poison license has disappeared to, would ya? What? You seek knowledge? Very well so you don't pester me further. Crowfoot is an ancient brew that will lower the very level of your foes. Mixing a hellebore blossom with a larkspur petal will reward you immensely! Now please go to Mega-maze and leave me alone. I must find that license!'.
Master hideout [Exits: east] You are now behind the throne. Tapestries adorn the walls back here, and you notice a few open books lying about the room. You are about to leave when you hear someone muttering an incantation in the corner of the room. As you look closer, you see that someone is hidden by a curtain over there. Shall you go and say hello?
(Yellow Aura) A robed apprentice is in the corner practicing.
Give me a cool description..........
A master thief is in perfect health.
A master thief says 'So you'd like to be a Cleric eh? Well I can't help you with that silly goal persay, but I can introduce you to the powerful healing brew known as Paleshade! A sip of this herbal tea and you'll be feeling good as new! Just combine a fennel seed, geranium stem, and a pokeweed berry to begin your restoration. Seek the last of my kind near the Orb of the air...'.
Past god in airy?
Master hideout [Exits: west] Ho ho! You seem to have stumbled upon the hideaway of the last and most powerful of the master thiefs. You think you can tell this by the way the man behind the desk is caressing a blade that seems to have poison just dripping off the end of the tip without any hint of fear. You sure you wanna talk to him?
(Yellow Aura) A truly evil-looking man grins at you with poison dripping from his teeth!
Give me a cool description..........
A master thief says 'You have reached the end of your journey, I'm afraid. The only remaining item on your quest would be Nightshade I do believe. Just in hopes that you might possibly slip and poison yourself I'll give you the formula for free! A leaf of thyme, a narcissus bulb and the extremely rare rosary pea are all that is required. One shot will cripple nearly anyone.. I'm hoping perhaps that anyone might be you!'.
