Enchanted Woods, by Kethry & Deth for levels 45 to 70 is a typical example of the sadistic attitude present in the current generation of Mystic IV immortals. It is sadistic. It is pointless.
The area starts off with a clever ploy. A cute little brownie appears randomly in the forests of haon and asks if you will be his friend. Saying the word 'yes' causes him to give you an acorn. Putting this acorn in the hollow tree in haon gets you (and your group) transported into the area. Be sure to get a spare acorn and donate it in case you are killed as waiting for him to get around to pestering you can be extremely aggrivating when your corpse is rotting.
Once inside, the area consists of two levels of mazes. Mazes which lead to teleport rooms. Mazes which lead back on themselves. Mazes which go in circles. Mazes without any purpose other than to be a pain. This area consists of about 50 rooms with 6 unique names and a dozen or so descriptions. The mobs are, for the most part, uninteresting with weak descriptions. One mob, however, is spec guard so jumps you if you attack other mobs unless you are angelic, and does enough damage to kill players well out of the range of the area.
Most of the rooms on the first level of the maze are called
On a Leaf
and the description is:
On a Leaf [Exits: various] You suddenly find yourself on a leaf that is of undescribable beauty. Unsure as to how you got here, you question whether or not you would ever want to leave.
Which has the typical new builder flaw of trying to tell the player how they feel. Several of the rooms on the first level do have unique descriptions and add to the flavor of the area. Unfortulately, the area itself is so poor that a few humerous descriptions can not save it. In summary, get a speedwalk through the maze from a friend if you want any of the equipment. Avoid the area otherwise. This area is an insult to the player base of this, or any, mud. I give it 1 star for the clever little brownie and a rope you have to climb.
The whole point of the area is to reach the end to kill the queen. Her room, a speedwalk to her from the entrance and here equipment follows.
