Mystic Adventure IV

Amazonia by Kethry

Please note that this is a preliminary review. The area is clearly not ready for the public. Amazonia is a stark contrast to New Olympus in its incompleteness and senselessness. The first thing you discover when you enter the area is that the mobs hate male players. One has to wonder if this is a personal reflection on the author. Female players wander safely through the area while male players are attacked at every turn. One mob, an Amazonian Warrior-Priestess is aggressive towards everyone and has damage roll of 900 or so. She was doing between 150 and 450 hp damage to me every round through sanctuary. The good news is they wander so getting your corpse is a matter of waiting till they bugger off. The bad news is they tend to block the only path to places you want to go. You best bet is a warrior/cleric combination (as if that is anything new).

The are is fraught with one way exits, incomplete equipment, buggy equipment and other sillyness. The one way exits may be a result of the poor OLC tools, may be mistakes or may be more of the authors sillyness. Only time will tell when and if the author gets around to fixing some of the bugs.

All in all, the area has some very nice equipment. Some of it too nice and can only be used to justify the pwipe the imms appear to be driving hard towards. Other gear makes no sense at all. One has to wonder if maybe the OLC tools require cryptic bit patterns for all affects as much of the common grade equipment has irrational stats. I give the area 2 stars.
